What is the purpose of the Lounge?

The Lounge, run by volunteers, is a center of activities for the promotion of international exchange and friendship.
We have information on life in Japan and overseas, and organize activities to enhance the mutual understanding
and friendship between foreigners and Japanese living in the Aoba and neighboring areas.

 

What does the Lounge provide?

There is a reception desk whose staff can provide assistance to living in Japan type questions in various languages.
Also, there is a Resource Center containing a library with foreign and Japanese books, videos, newspapers
and magazines.

 

l         International exchange activities

l         Morning coffee (First Sunday of the month), lectures,and cultural events.

l         Japanese lessons for foreigners

l         Foreign language classes (English, Chinese, and Korean)

l         Group activities by registered groups, including Origami, Toast Masters, Chinese Culture,
Hispanic Culture, French Culture and Folk Dances, etc.

l         Publication of Lounge news

l         Information sessions on cross-cultural living

l         Dispatch of volunteer interpreters

The Lounge is closed on the 4th Sunday of every month and New Yearfs holidays.
